Oberhausen runs the DTZ, telc B1 and both civics tests with a €25 late-registration surcharge. Essen has four verified centres including weekly Friday telc sittings. Gelsenkirchen publishes A1 at €90, the cheapest in the region.
The same telc certificate costs €90 to €200 within half an hour of Bottrop. Check two or three centres rather than defaulting to the nearest.
Essen and Gelsenkirchen both require 100 hours of integration course teaching before they will register you for the DTZ. Check that rule before assuming you can book.
The Evangelisches Bildungswerk there states €130 for the DTZ and €25 for the Leben in Deutschland test, with monthly sittings.
