German exam centres in Erlangen

Erlangen is an unusual case. The Volkshochschule runs the DTZ and the Leben in Deutschland test, but its telc exams are in Spanish and Russian - not German. For a telc Deutsch certificate you go to Nürnberg or Fürth, both about fifteen minutes away.

What is different about Erlangen

No telc Deutsch in the city

The Volkshochschule runs European language certificates in Spanish and Russian only. For telc Deutsch at any level, Nürnberg and Fürth are the nearest options and both are on the U-Bahn and S-Bahn network.

Leben in Deutschland is open to outsiders

Free if you are on the course, €25 if you are not. Register by email to the integration team rather than through the course catalogue. Pass mark is 15 of 33 questions.

The DTZ belongs to the course

It is the closing exam of an integration course and is free to its participants. Self-payers will not find a seat here; the nearest open DTZ options are in Nürnberg.

B1 needs speaking plus one more part

The vhs spells out the rule: to be awarded B1 you need B1 in the speaking section and in at least one of listening/reading or writing. Speaking is the one you cannot afford to drop.

Booking is the easy half. Sit a full model test in the format you booked - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics tell you which module needs the weeks between now and your date.
