Twelve candidates or no exam
Sittings normally run only from twelve participants. A quiet date can be cancelled, so register early rather than assuming a published date is safe.

Gießen runs its exams through the Volkshochschule as an agent of the BAMF, covering telc and g.a.s.t. formats, the DTZ and the citizenship test. The local quirk is a minimum: a sitting normally needs twelve candidates.

Withdraw after the deadline and only 50% of the fee is refunded. Medical evidence has to reach the vhs within two working days.
Registration documents must be filled in electronically and emailed, or handed in at the info point. The BAMF does not accept handwritten forms.
The citizenship test costs €25, runs 60 minutes and needs at least 17 correct answers out of 33. Not to be confused with Leben in Deutschland, which passes at 15.
Booking is the easy half. Sit a full model test in the format you booked - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics tell you which module needs the weeks between now and your date.
FAQ
€25. It lasts 60 minutes, has 33 questions, and you need at least 17 correct to pass.
Possibly. The vhs runs sittings "in der Regel ab 12 Teilnehmer*innen", so a date with too few registrations may not go ahead.
Email the completed forms to the vhs German department or hand them in at the info point, Monday to Friday 09:00-12:30 and Thursday 14:00-17:00. Handwritten forms are not accepted.
The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
