German exam centres in Hungary

Hungary runs all three certificates. The Goethe-Institut in Budapest examines A1 to C2 plus TestDaF, ÖSD comes through the Österreich Institut, which says it works with fourteen examination centres nationwide, and telc operates through a single national licensee that examines at host schools in 28 cities. For most candidates the question is which board your employer or university named, not whether there is a centre nearby.

What is different about Hungary

telc runs through one national licensee

Almost every Hungarian telc venue belongs to telc Hungary Nonprofit Kft., which examines at partner schools around the country. You register centrally, not with the school, so start with telc Hungary and ask for the nearest venue on your date.

ÖSD claims fourteen centres nationwide

The Österreich Institut says it works with fourteen examination centres in Hungary, but publishes only Budapest as its city. If you are outside the capital and need ÖSD specifically, ask them which of the fourteen is closest before assuming a trip to Budapest.

Budapest is the only three-board city

Goethe, telc and ÖSD all examine in Budapest. Everywhere else you are realistically choosing telc, so check which board your employer or university actually named before planning around a local date.

Nursing files may need a specific exam

German healthcare recognition often names a particular certificate - the telc B1·B2 Pflege or the ÖSD B2 for nursing and medical professions - rather than accepting a general B2. Ask before you book a general exam.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.
