Canada has three Goethe exam locations - Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa - each publishing its own exam information rather than a single national calendar. The institute is explicit that the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 and every higher certificate from A2 to C2 count as language proof for spousal immigration to Germany, which is the most common reason people book here.

Before you book
The institute states directly that the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 and all higher certificates from A2 to C2 are recognised as language proof for joining a spouse in Germany. If you already hold a stronger certificate, you should not need to sit A1 again.
Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa each publish their own exam information. A level that is full in one is often open in another, and the certificate is identical wherever you sit it.
Goethe-Institut Canada does not name TestDaF on its exam pages. If a German university has asked for it, check the TestDaF portal for a Canadian venue rather than assuming Toronto runs it.
