German exam centres in Pakistan

Pakistan is represented by the Goethe-Institut in Karachi, which examines the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2 plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO. It also states that exams run at partner locations, so Karachi is not automatically the only place to sit one - but it is the only address the institute publishes.

The institute says Pakistan is represented by Karachi and that examinations also take place at partner locations, but it publishes no addresses for those. Ask the institute which partner centre is nearest before planning travel.

We do not publish individual sitting dates: they change too often to be safe. Follow the centre link for the current calendar.

What is different about Pakistan

Ask about the partner centres

The institute states that exams run at partner locations as well as in Karachi, without naming them. From Lahore, Islamabad or Peshawar that question is worth an email before you book flights - the answer may save the trip entirely.

A1 is the family reunion level

Spouses joining a partner in Germany normally need Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1. It is the most-booked exam here and the first to fill, so treat the registration window as the real deadline.

Youth exams from age 10

Fit in Deutsch A1 and A2 are written for ages 10 to 16. The Goethe-Institut recommends the adult versions from 16 and C2 from 18, so do not put a younger candidate into an adult sitting to save a step.

TestDaF is booked centrally

The institute lists TestDaF, but registration runs through testdaf.de rather than the institute counter, on six fixed dates a year with places allocated in the order they arrive.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.
