German exam centres in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan runs its German exams through the Goethe-Institut in Almaty, covering the full Goethe-Zertifikat ladder from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace. Study and vocational routes to Germany drive most of the demand, and with one verified centre for a very large country, travel is part of the plan.

Before you book

What is different about Kazakhstan

One centre, a very large country

Almaty is the only verified exam location. From Astana, Shymkent or the west that means a flight or a long train, so book the date and the travel in one decision rather than hoping for a closer sitting.

B1 for training, C1 or TestDaF for study

Vocational routes usually ask for B1 and university programmes taught in German for TestDaF or C1. All of them run in Almaty, but they are different exams - check which one your offer letter names.

TestDaF is booked centrally

The institute lists TestDaF, but registration runs through testdaf.de on six fixed dates a year, with places allocated in the order they arrive rather than by ballot.

Neighbouring options may be closer

If you are in the south, Tashkent is nearer than Astana and its institute runs regional exam locations of its own. Compare before assuming Almaty is your only route.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Kazakhstan

Where can I take a German exam in Kazakhstan?

At the Goethe-Institut in Almaty, Naurysbay Batyr Str. 31 in the Premium business centre. It examines the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO.

Can I sit a German exam in Astana?

Not at any location we could verify. Almaty is the only confirmed centre. We publish a city once its centre is confirmed rather than listing one with nothing behind it, so tell us if you know of another.

Where can I take TestDaF in Kazakhstan?

At the Goethe-Institut in Almaty, but booking runs centrally on testdaf.de rather than through the institute. It is a B2 to C1 exam for university admission held on six fixed dates a year.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Kazakhstan?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists none, and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. Treat that as "none found" rather than "none exists", and ask any school claiming to examine either board for its centre number.

Official directories

The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
