German exam centres in Thailand

Thailand runs its German exams through the Goethe-Institut in Bangkok, on a lane off Sathorn named after the institute itself. It covers the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace. Family reunion and vocational routes drive most of the demand.

What is different about Thailand

A1 is the family reunion level

Spouses joining a partner in Germany normally need Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1, and it is the most-booked exam here. Registration windows close well before the sitting, so treat the window as your deadline.

One centre for the country

Bangkok is the only verified exam location in Thailand. From Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen or Phuket that means a flight, so book the date and the travel in one decision.

The street is named after the institute

It sits on Soi Goethe, off Sathorn Soi 1. Giving the lane name rather than the number is usually the faster way to arrive on time.

TestDaF is booked centrally

The institute lists TestDaF, but registration runs through testdaf.de rather than the institute counter, on six fixed dates a year with places allocated in the order they arrive.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

Not at any location we could verify. Bangkok is the only confirmed centre. We publish a city once its centre is confirmed rather than listing one with nothing behind it.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Thailand?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists none, and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. Treat that as "none found" rather than "none exists", and ask any school claiming to examine either board for its centre number.

Official directories

The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
