Indonesia runs its German exams through the Goethe network: full institutes in Jakarta and Bandung covering A1 to C2, and Wisma Jerman in Surabaya, the Goethe-Zentrum for East Java, examining up to C1. Ausbildung and nursing recruitment drive most of the demand, and B1 is the level most candidates need.

Each centre was checked on the exam board's own website. Dates and fees change, so confirm directly with the centre before you pay or travel.

Commissioned by the Goethe-Institut to run courses, exams and cultural programmes in Surabaya. It teaches around a thousand students a year from A1 to C1. C2 means travelling to Jakarta or Bandung.

Before you book
The Jakarta institute is under renovation and has moved its sittings to announced venues. This is exactly the kind of detail that costs people an exam, so check the confirmation email the week before rather than trusting a map pin.
Surabaya examines up to C1. If you need C2 - usually for teaching or an academic post - the two full institutes are your options, and that means travel from anywhere in East Java.
Goethe-Institut Indonesia does not list TestDaF on its exam page. If you need it for university admission, registration runs through testdaf.de on six fixed dates a year, and the portal is the only reliable list of which venues are open for a given date.
Vocational training and nursing placements in Germany usually ask for B1, sometimes B2. All three centres examine B1, so no candidate needs to leave the country for it.
Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

Possibly. Deutschlandtara advertises ÖSD exams at B1 and B2 for candidates in Indonesia, but publishes no address or city, so we have not listed it as a centre. Contact them directly and confirm where the exam is actually sat before you pay.
Yes. Wisma Jerman issues the same official Goethe certificate. The difference is the range - it covers up to C1 rather than the full ladder to C2.
