Ethiopia runs its German exams through the Goethe-Institut in Addis Ababa, on the College of Business and Economics campus at Sedist Kilo. It covers A1 to C2, TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace, with nursing and vocational recruitment driving most of the demand.

Before you book
The institute is on the College of Business and Economics site at Sedist Kilo, not on a street front. Candidates who have never been there routinely lose twenty minutes at the gate - go once before exam day if you can.
Vocational and nursing routes to Germany ask for B1 and B2 respectively, and those levels take most of the seats. Register when the window opens rather than when your course finishes.
Addis Ababa is the only verified exam location in Ethiopia. From Mekelle, Bahir Dar or Hawassa that means travel and accommodation, which belongs in the exam budget from the start.
The institute offers TestDaF, but registration runs through testdaf.de rather than the institute, on six fixed dates a year with places allocated in the order they arrive.
