German exam centres in Colombia

Colombia has more German exam coverage than the single Goethe-Institut suggests. Bogotá examines A1 to C2 plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO, and the institute directs candidates in Cali, Medellín and Cartagena to register with their local exam centre instead. telc is licensed separately through Berlitz in Bogotá.

What is different about Colombia

You may not need to go to Bogotá

The institute explicitly tells candidates in Cali, Medellín and Cartagena to register with their local exam centre rather than the capital. It publishes no addresses for those centres, so a phone call to Bogotá can save you a flight.

The Bogotá institute also covers Ecuador

Its exam page directs candidates to centres in Quito and Guayaquil alongside the Colombian cities. If you are reading this from Ecuador, that is your registration route.

TestDaF or TestAS, not always the same thing

The institute names both for university admission. TestDaF is a language exam; TestAS is an aptitude test. Some programmes want one, some want both - read the admission letter rather than assuming.

telc runs on a separate track

Berlitz in Bogotá holds the telc licence, and telc dates and fees have nothing to do with the Goethe calendar. If the Goethe level you need is full, that is a second network worth checking.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Colombia

Where can I take a German exam in Colombia?

At the Goethe-Institut in Bogotá, Carrera 11A No. 93-52, which examines A1 to C2 plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO. The institute also directs candidates in Cali, Medellín and Cartagena to register with the exam centre in their own city, and Berlitz in Bogotá is a licensed telc centre.

Can I sit a German exam outside Bogotá?

Yes. Goethe-Institut Colombia names exam centres in Cali, Medellín and Cartagena and asks candidates there to register locally. It does not publish their addresses, so contact the institute for the venue and current dates before booking travel.

Is there a telc exam centre in Colombia?

Yes. Berlitz Colombia in Bogotá is listed as a licensed telc examination centre in telc’s own centre register. It did not publish a level list or fees where we could read them, so ask for both in writing. We have not yet verified an ÖSD centre in Colombia.

Which exam do German universities want from Colombian applicants?

Usually TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1 for programmes taught in German, and some also ask for TestAS, which is an aptitude test rather than a language exam. The Bogotá institute points to both, so read your admission letter carefully.
