What is different about Ghana

Results come out online

The institute publishes results on its own platform rather than sending them out. Keep the login you are given at registration - chasing it afterwards costs days you may not have if a university deadline is close.

Study files usually mean C1 or TestDaF

German universities teaching in German normally ask for TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. Both run in Accra, but they are different exams in format and scoring - check which one your admission letter actually names.

One centre for the country

Accra is the only verified exam location in Ghana. From Kumasi or Tamale that is a serious journey, so book the date and the travel together rather than assuming another sitting will follow shortly.

Check requirements at the source

Study and work agents frequently quote levels that are out of date or simply wrong. Ask the university, employer or German mission handling your case and keep the answer in writing before you pay for an exam.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Ghana

Where can I take a German exam in Ghana?

At the Goethe-Institut, 30 Kakramadu Road in Cantonments, Accra, next to NAFTI. It examines Goethe-Zertifikat A1 to C2, including the Fit in Deutsch youth exams, plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO.

How do I get my exam results in Ghana?

Through the Goethe-Institut’s online results platform, using the access you are given at registration. Results are not posted, so keep those details safe if you are working to a deadline.

Which exam do German universities want?

For programmes taught in German, normally TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. Both are available in Accra, but they are different exams - read your admission letter carefully rather than assuming they are interchangeable.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Ghana?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists no examination centre in Ghana, and we could not verify one independently. Treat that as “none found” rather than “none exists”: the register lags reality in places - Vietnam has two licensed telc centres that do not appear in it - and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. If you know of a centre here, send us the link to its exam page and we will check it and add it.
