German exam centres in Iraq

Iraq has two Goethe exam locations, Baghdad and Erbil, both hosted inside other institutions rather than in buildings of their own. Between them they cover the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace.

What is different about Iraq

Both venues are hosted inside other institutions

Baghdad sits at the Institut Français and Erbil at the ETTC. Neither has a published building number, and both give landmarks instead - confirm the exact entrance with the institute rather than relying on a map pin.

Two cities, two regions

Erbil serves the Kurdistan region and Baghdad the centre and south. Both examine the full range, so check which calendar has your level before committing to the journey between them.

Study files mean TestDaF or C1

German universities teaching in German normally ask for TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. Both are offered here, but they are different exams in format and scoring - read the admission letter carefully.

Get visa requirements in writing

Requirements quoted by agents are frequently out of date. Ask the German mission handling your file directly and keep the answer, especially where a family reunion or study file depends on the exact certificate.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Iraq

Where can I take a German exam in Iraq?

At two Goethe locations: in Baghdad, on Abu Nawas Street at the Institut Français, and in Erbil, at the ETTC on Nawroz Street near Sardam Hospital. Both examine A1 to C2 plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO.

What is the exact address of the exam venue?

Neither location publishes a building number - the institute gives the host institution and a landmark instead. Confirm the entrance and room with the institute when you register rather than relying on a map.

Where can I take TestDaF in Iraq?

At either Goethe location, but booking runs centrally through testdaf.de rather than the institute. It covers B2 to C1 for university admission on six fixed dates a year.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Iraq?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists none, and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. Treat that as "none found" rather than "none exists", and ask any school claiming to examine either board for its centre number.

Official directories

The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
