German exam centres in Mongolia

Mongolia runs its German exams through the Goethe-Institut in Ulaanbaatar, in the Khasvuu Plaza in Sükhbaatar District. It covers the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace. Germany has long been a common destination for Mongolian students and trainees, and the exam is usually the last step.

What is different about Mongolia

One centre for the country

Ulaanbaatar is the only verified exam location, and Mongolia is vast. From Darkhan, Erdenet or the aimag centres, plan travel and accommodation into the cost of the exam from the start.

The address is published in Cyrillic

The institute gives its address in Mongolian script, and transliterations vary. Use the venue on your exam confirmation, and show a driver the original rather than a romanised version.

Study files mean TestDaF or C1

German universities teaching in German normally ask for TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. Both run in Ulaanbaatar, but they are different exams in format and scoring - read the admission letter carefully.

TestDaF is booked centrally

The institute lists TestDaF, but registration runs through testdaf.de rather than the institute, on six fixed dates a year with places allocated in the order they arrive.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Mongolia

Where can I take a German exam in Mongolia?

At the Goethe-Institut in Ulaanbaatar, on the 4th floor of the Khasvuu Plaza on Teevershdiin Street in Sükhbaatar District. It examines A1 to C2 plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO.

Can I sit a German exam outside Ulaanbaatar?

Not at any location we could verify. Ulaanbaatar is the only confirmed centre. We publish a city once its centre is confirmed on its own website, so tell us if you know of another.

Where can I take TestDaF in Mongolia?

At the Goethe-Institut in Ulaanbaatar, but booking runs centrally on testdaf.de rather than through the institute. It covers B2 to C1 for university admission on six fixed dates a year.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Mongolia?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists none, and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. Treat that as "none found" rather than "none exists", and ask any school claiming to examine either board for its centre number.

Official directories

The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
