German exam centres in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia runs its German exams through the Goethe-Institut in Riyadh. It covers the full Goethe-Zertifikat ladder from A1 to C2, including the Fit in Deutsch youth exams, plus TestDaF for university admission and the Goethe-Test PRO for the workplace. Most candidates here are students heading to German universities or expatriate residents.

What is different about Saudi Arabia

One centre for the Kingdom

Riyadh is the only verified exam location. From Jeddah, Dammam or the Eastern Province that means a flight, so book the date and the travel together rather than assuming another sitting is close behind.

The address is published in Arabic

The institute gives its street in Arabic script only, and transliterations vary. Use the venue on your exam confirmation, and if you are arranging a driver, show them the Arabic rather than a romanised version.

Study files mean TestDaF or C1

German universities teaching in German normally ask for TestDaF or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. Both run in Riyadh, but they are different exams - read the admission letter rather than assuming they are interchangeable.

The UAE is the regional alternative

If the Riyadh calendar does not suit, the Goethe-Institut examines in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and the certificate is identical. Compare all three before waiting months for a local date.

Booked a date? Now get the score.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.

FAQ

Taking a German exam in Saudi Arabia

Where can I take a German exam in Saudi Arabia?

At the Goethe-Institut in Riyadh, on Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen Street. It examines the full Goethe-Zertifikat range from A1 to C2, plus TestDaF and the Goethe-Test PRO.

Can I sit a German exam in Jeddah or Dammam?

Not at any location we could verify. Riyadh is the only confirmed centre in the Kingdom. If the dates do not suit, the Goethe-Institut in Abu Dhabi or Dubai is a regional alternative.

Where can I take TestDaF in Saudi Arabia?

At the Goethe-Institut in Riyadh, but booking runs centrally on testdaf.de rather than through the institute. It covers B2 to C1 for university admission on six fixed dates a year.

Is there a telc or ÖSD exam centre in Saudi Arabia?

We checked telc’s own centre register and it lists none, and ÖSD publishes no register we can read. Treat that as "none found" rather than "none exists", and ask any school claiming to examine either board for its centre number.

The exam boards maintain their own centre finders. They are the authoritative list.
