German exam centres in Slovenia

Slovenia borders both Austria and Italy, and German is a common second language here rather than an exotic one. The Goethe-Institut in Ljubljana examines A1 to C2 in youth and adult versions, and licenses further institutions around the country to run its exams under its oversight.

Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch 1 and Start Deutsch 1 through to C2, in youth and adult versions

Goethe-Institut Slovenia does not name TestDaF on its exam pages. It does license further exam centres in the country, which it supervises from Ljubljana - ask for the list if the capital is inconvenient.

We do not publish individual sitting dates: they change too often to be safe. Follow the centre link for the current calendar.

What is different about Slovenia

Licensed centres cover the rest of the country

The institute describes exam centres as institutions authorised to run Goethe exams under its oversight, but does not list them on the exam page. From Maribor or Koper, ask Ljubljana which is nearest.

Austria is the likelier destination

Slovenia borders Austria, and many candidates work or study there rather than in Germany. Austrian employers often name ÖSD - only Goethe is verified here, so check ÖSD’s finder if your file requires it.

No TestDaF advertised

Unlike most Goethe country sites, the Slovenian exam pages do not name TestDaF. If a German university has asked for it, check the TestDaF portal for a venue rather than assuming Ljubljana runs it.

Youth versions run alongside adult ones

The institute lists Fit in Deutsch at A1 and A2 as well as the adult exams. German is widely taught in Slovenian schools, so check which version a receiving institution wants.

Sitting the exam abroad usually means one shot and a long wait for the next date. Practise in the real format first - Goethe, telc or DTZ - and let the analytics show which module still needs the weeks you have left.
